The Deployment Support Group Dinners - On the last Sunday of each month at 5:00 p.m. (excepting November and December) St. Christopher’s hosts the families of our deployed troops at a special meal. The purpose is to offer much needed support and adult interaction for families who are waiting. The entire parish family is invited to participate. A sign up board is located in the parish hall. Contact Barbara Prall or Marcia Gifford for more information.
The Deployment Gift Boxes Program - Not only do we offer support for the families that are waiting for deployed troops to return, we also send those deployed troops a gift box each month. Each box contains items such as needed toiletries, hard candies, gum, toys (that they often distribute to local children), magazines, and stationery. At Christmas we send a tiny tree complete with ornaments to hopefully help ease the pain of being away from home at such a special time. To learn more about how you may be a part of this ministry contact Judy Steine.
During the prayers of the people of Sunday mornings, we call our deployed troops by name, lifting them to the throne of grace and reminding those of us at home to pray for them daily.
The St. Christopher’s Prayer Chain - Another way we offer support is in the realm of prayer. The Daughters of the King and others who want to serve the parish in the prayer ministry are sent “urgent” requests that come in to the church office via our “prayer chain”. These requests are lifted to God in asking for His aid. If you have a special urgent need, please call the church office at 254-634-7474. We will be sure to pass the information on.
