Workshop
The meeting was opened with prayer followed by a discussion of Fierce Communications chapter 1.
After breaking into small discussion groups based on the Core Values of the church, the vestry was called back together. Each group presented a brief report.
Education - While the original truth of the core value has established that “We encourage the personal growth of our people through a variety of opportunities to learn the truths of the Christian faith and our Episcopal heritage, and other useful aspects of holy and healthy living”; the discussion group determined that our Sunday School program does not meet the established standard. One suggestion for improving parish response and participation in Sunday School was for the vestry to attend Sunday School.
Fellowship - The discussion group determined that in order to answer the questions presented a print out of the church’s Mission Statement and Core Values was needed. It was ascertained that a beginning point would be to establish the guidelines and goals of our fellowship activities. Additionally, based on the past record it was found that our fellowship activities needed to be tweaked in order to encourage more attendance from a wider variety of parish members and to ensure newcomer inclusion.
Worship - The group came to the conclusions that based on responses from our Ripe for the Harvest project and in keeping with the Core Value of worship - We come together to worship our Lord and Savior using a variety of worship services based on traditional Anglican forms of worship which are founded n Holy Scriptures - that some work should be put into providing a contemporary worship service. Otherwise, worship seems to be on track.
Outreach and Support – There was no discussion group.
