2010 Discernment Process of the Call to Stand for Election for the Ministry
of Vestry Member, Lay Delegates and Alternates to Council

Notification of dates and methods for making nominations for prospective members of the vestry, council delegate or alternate delegate will be published in the June issue of the Evangel.  The parish member placing the name of a fellow communicant in nomination to the vestry must have the permission of the prospective nominee.

Requirements for vestry membership will be in accord with Canon 9 of the Constitution & Canons of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Texas, along with these additional requirements:
· Confirmed Episcopalian for a minimum of two years
· A communicant and qualified voter of the parish
· Knowledge of Canon 9, and all canons relating to vestries
· Knowledge of the vision, mission and core values of the parish
· Financial commitment to the parish on a percentage basis, working toward a tithe
· Commitment to attendance at all possible vestry meetings, major parish events and regular Sunday worship services
· Commitment to keep the parish in prayer for the duration of the vestry term
· Have completed the first two courses in The Discovery Series before beginning the discernment process, and have completed the last two courses before installation as a vestry member
· Have completed the Safeguarding God’s Children course prior to installation

Requirements for the four lay delegates to council (and alternates) representing the Parish will be in accord with Article 2, Section 2.3, of the Constitution & Canons of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Texas, along with these additional requirements:
· Confirmed Episcopalian for a minimum of two years
· A communicant and qualified voter of the parish
· Knowledge of the vision, mission and core values of the parish
· Financial commitment to the parish on a percentage basis, working toward a tithe
· Have completed the first two courses in The Discovery Series before beginning the discernment process, and have completed the last two courses before attending the annual council meeting of the Diocese of Texas
